Maitland: Cape Town

(1)They have fought in many battles and their glory and renown
Have preceded them where’eer they go, they uphold the British crown;
They’re the foundation of the Empire, those leaders of the world,
With their strong right arms they’ve fought for home
And their foes, have downward hurl’d
(2)And now again success to them, they have conquered another foe,
They fought, the enemy’s [illegible] to [illegible], and they laid
their foeman low;
And as they fought, they raised a prayer for the fallen of their kind,
For deeds of bravery were done there, by their comrades left behind.
